Hey, I'm Karen.

I'm a nature-loving Environmental Scientist working to protect our environment from the impact of humans and working to protect humans from toxins in our environment. When I'm not geeking out about the planet, I'm working on achieving and maintaining peak performance in my sport of choice: beach volleyball.

I am a Board Certified Holistic Health Coach and a Certified Nutrition Coach with specializations in Integrative Nutrition, BodyMind Nutrition, and Raw Nutrition, and Certified Sports Nutritionist.

Since opening my first coaching practice in 2012, I've had the pleasure of helping a variety of clients identify individual nutritional needs, navigate unique challenges, and help them achieve their goals.

I provide virtual support through assessing nutrient needs, holistic health counseling, mindset coaching, recommended lifestyle changes and accountability.

As an athlete with many food sensitivities, I understand the importance of knowing which foods improve or hinder my performance and when it's best to consume them.

My clients and I go beyond discussing specific foods for fuel and also help athletes nourish with lifestyle changes that will optimize their performance in their sport.

Making appropriate upgrades to nutrition, mindset, training and recovery in combination with strategic lifestyle changes may also benefit adult athletes with improved sleep quality and shorter recovery times, higher energy levels, increased confidence, greater resilience, and enhanced mental toughness during high pressure situations.

About my Approach

I work with athletes to develop a personalized game plan using my proprietary 3-step approach to achieving peak performance and athletic longevity.  Unlike a generalized plan, each game plan will utilize holistic approach to develop something that works for you and takes into consideration: 

My Healthy Green Approach begins with the Cultivate Phase which addresses the basics of athletic performance improvements: establishing goals, addressing mindset and upgrading nutrition. Once I feel that a client has a handle on these foundational aspects, we move into the next phase: Grow. This is where we identify, reduce and manage stress, determine how to train smarter, not harder, and learn how to properly recover between workouts and after injury.

The last phase of my approach is where we get into the nitty gritty of lifestyle hacks that further enhance performance. This is the Evolve phase, where we experiment with nature-based ergogenic aids and bio-hacks, and transform habits.
